Art By Cathy Holmes

I have been painting for about 18 years, initially studying with Helene Burrow at Barrow Disability Centre evening classes. She taughts me the basics of acrylics, watercolours and colour theory. I am very grateful to Helene for all her help.

A few years later, in 2017, I joined Barrow Society of Artists. Following a soft pastel demonstration by Greg Howard in 2019 at one of Barrow Society of Artists evenings, I was curious to try this 'new to me' medium. I am now hooked on these sticks of pure pigment which is currently my chosed medium. I have been experimenting and perfecting the use of this medium for 7 years and now feel confident in my style and my ability to create using these sticks of colour.

I mainly paint landscapes inspired by our beautiful, local Lake District, but I also paint animals and more recently portraits.
