- Insight into the recent Digital Art Demonstration by Jacob Currie
The Digital Art Work by Jacob Currie created in his digital Art Demonstration On Monday night we had an enthralling digital art demonstration by the very talented Jacob Currie. He recreated a vision of Campbeltown which inspired him after a stay there. Below is a time lapse video created by Jacob of his work that he demonstrated to society members. It was enlightening and entertaining to watch this original artwork come together and have explained by the Artist the methods he used. Time Lapse Video of Digitally painting Campbeltown by Jacob Currie We learned about the software Jacob uses and his creation of brushes in his pursuit to perfect digital artwork produced by himself. We saw the painting develop before our eyes from a starting sketch to a more refined finished artwork. The demonstration by Jacob Currie was well received with many audience questions as he worked away at completing the digital artwork. We were all enthralled! I am happy to say Jacob is now working with Barrow Bid to produce their catalogues and leaflets and I can't wait to see what this talented artist produces. We are certainly glad to have him on board as a member of our society with a lot of knowledge to share on this new to many of us form of creating fine Art. Jacob Currie is the Artist behind our Barrow Society of Artists Logo. I think we may be seeing far more of his work locally in the near future. A big thank you to Jacob for sharing his passion and his talent and answering the many questions as he diligently worked away. The presentation he provided was engaging and well presented. Lee Payne’s Connection to the Lake District Lee Payne is well known in the local community for his dedication to capturing the Lake District’s landscapes. He spends much of his time hiking to mountain tops, often arriving before dawn to photograph the first light touching the lakes and hills. These photographs serve as the foundation for his paintings, allowing him to recreate the exact mood and atmosphere he witnessed. His deep connection to the area is evident in every brushstroke. Lee’s paintings do more than replicate a scene; they convey the feeling of standing on a mountain, breathing in the crisp air, and watching the sun rise over the water. This emotional connection makes his work resonate with both locals and visitors. Buttermere An Original Lee Payne Oil Painting The Art of Photorealism in Landscape Painting Photorealism demands precision and patience. Lee Payne’s approach involves translating his photographs into oil paintings with meticulous attention to detail. This style requires capturing not only the shapes and colours but also the subtle effects of light and shadow. Lee frequently focuses on the quality of light during dawn and early morning hours. This time of day offers soft, warm tones and long shadows that add depth and drama to the landscape. By emphasizing these lighting conditions, his paintings highlight the natural beauty of the Lake District in a way that feels both realistic and poetic. Why Lee Payne’s Work Stands Out Many artists paint landscapes, but Lee Payne’s work stands out because of his commitment to authenticity and light. His paintings do not just show the Lake District; they capture its spirit. Viewers often comment on how his work transports them to the scene, making them feel as if they are witnessing the sunrise or they are there witnessing the outstanding beauty. His ability to balance technical skill with emotional impact makes his paintings memorable. Whether it is a quiet lake or a rugged mountain peak, Lee’s art invites viewers to pause and appreciate the natural world. What to Expect at the Demo The demo at Hawcoat Memorial Hall will give attendees a rare glimpse into Lee Payne’s creative world. He will demonstrate how he uses his photographs to guide the painting process and explain the techniques he employs to achieve photorealism. Attendees can expect to see: How Lee selects and prepares his reference photos Sketching and composition planning on canvas Tips for capturing natural light and reflections Insights into his artistic inspiration and connection to the Lake District and the Local Landscapes Supporting Local Art and Artists Lee Payne’s photorealist oil paintings offer a fresh and detailed view of the Lake District’s landscapes, focusing on the magic of early morning light. - Making Memories, Guest Artist in Jitterbug in June!
Tracy Rose Artist Exhibition Details Showcase of work at Jitterbug for the month of June, Tracy Rose presents a collection that reflects her unique artistic style, emphasizing the beauty of Ulverston through her vibrant watercolours and intricate ink-pen details. Watercolour and Ink-pen Memories come to life in Watercolour and Ink-pen for artist Tracy Rose. Exhibiting her work in Jitterbug for the month of June led to her creating some Ulverston themed Original Artwork. She writes, 'I enjoy painting scenes that provide me with memories of places that I have visited in local areas and on holidays; places I enjoy spending my time. My focus is painting street scenes capturing the character and charm of old-style buildings, alongside painting landscapes and seascapes.' I think you will agree Ulverston is a town that fits the bill of interest. Tracy Rose tends to use bright saturated colours to pick out the textures and mood of the moment. In the past her works have been described as painting in a naive style. The Artist agrees with this as she enjoys painting with deliberate simplicity and bright colours along with common themes of nature, community and everyday life. Painting Practices Tracy Rose prefers to paint in watercolour and use bright saturated colours outlining features with ink pen to recreate a joyful atmosphere. But she is not stuck on this method and experiments with mixed media using foils, metallic water colours and pencils. She states 'Being self taught I follow no convention. My paintings are an interpretation of what I see and find interesting at the time.' The work involves sketching in the moment and taking reference photos to capture the colours and light to help in the completion of the paintings created at her leisure at home . Enjoying the memories being recreated as she paints. Above is a selection from the Artwork showcased by Tracy Rose in the Jitterbug Gallery Jitterbug's Location Jitterbug can be found on Market Street in Ulverston and the Gallery is found on the third floor of this charming shop. The shop is full of eclectic collections and gift ideas: With the added attraction of a floor dedicated to showcase local artists work on the third floor Gallery space.
