Encaustic Wax Art Creation Workshop

On 2nd February at 7pm at Hawcoat Memorial Hall a workshop for members of Barrow Society of Artists has been arranged led by Marilyn Hale.

Last year we enjoyed Marilyn's Glass Fusion Workshop so much we rebooked her. Marilyn has many years experience and many techniques to teach us all! So, I am looking forward to the Encaustic Wax Workshop which is a new process to me.

What is Encaustic Wax Art?

Encaustic painting is an ancient technique in which heated wax and pigments are applied to a surface such as wood or specialized paper. The term comes from the Greek enkaustikos, meaning “to burn in,” referring to the heat used to fuse layers.

Marilyn will lead us through the process of creating our own Encaustic Wax Art.

We have specialist paper and irons at the ready for members who would like to participate in this workshop. Places are limited for participation so if you want a space get there early! Others can watch the demonstration and process used by Marilyn Hale to create this fascinating Original Art Work.

All equipment needed will be provided to try this process at the demonstration so you don't need to bring anything.

Workshops are a great way for Artists, who usually work on their own, to meet other Artists, learn some new techniques and share ideas and experiences. We have a tea and coffee break halfway through.
